EDUCATION:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, counseling or nursing from an accredited university. 
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Current requisite professional certification or licensure, specifically LLMSW, LMSW, LLP, TLLP, LLPC, LPC, LLBSW, LBSW, RN.  
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years clinical experience, including experience conducting clinical behavioral health assessment and providing intervention and treatment to individuals with a Mental Illness, Intellectual and Developmental disability, and/or children with Serious Emotional Disturbance, as evidenced by self-report and corroborated by references. At least one year experience within the Community Mental Health system or in an outpatient clinic and with managed care and/or third-party reimbursement.

Clinical background should also include experience with crisis intervention, short-term treatment, DSM- V diagnosing, community networking, knowledge of developmental disabilities, and treatment of emotionally impaired or mentally ill individuals. As a psychologist, social worker, registered nurse, licensed/limited-licensed professional counselor, licensed or limited licensed marriage and family therapist.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:

The Pre-admission Screening Specialist works with the Access Department facilitating assessments for individuals, residents of Shiawassee County, with primary Medicaid or those uninsured, seeking authorization for inpatient psychiatric placement.  The Pre-admission Screening Specialist works within a managed care capacity while responding to requests for pre-admission screenings from Memorial Healthcare and emergency departments outside of Shiawassee County.  The goal is to assess the severity of illness and level of care needed to assure the individual is referred to the medically necessary and appropriate service. The Pre-admission Screening Specialist is responsible to the Supervisor of Access and Emergency Services, or other supervisory personnel as determined by the Chief Executive Officer. This is a fully remote position.  Includes nights, weekends and holidays.
