Infant Mental Health Specialist
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, counseling, or other related human services field from an accredited university.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Required: Professional licensure, specifically licensed or limited licensure as related to human services degree. Preferred: Infant Mental Health Specialist (IMHS) Mi-AIHM Endorsement or higher.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years of post-graduate supervised clinical experience, including experience providing case management services, crisis intervention, psychoeducation, and counseling for persons with young children, toddlers, and infants. Knowledge and experience with prevalent theories of child development a must.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Infant Mental Health Specialist provides services to parents, guardians, or caretakers of pre- school age children who are experiencing difficulties with bonding and attachment processes. Services shall include an annual biopsychosocial assessment, development and implementation of a Person Centered Plan, and crisis intervention when needed. Treatment modalities may include individual, conjoint, family, psycholinguistic, and psychoeducational models of therapeutic intervention, as well as case management. The Infant Mental Health Specialist participates in the Children’s Home and Community Based Team, as well as numerous community collaboratives with other child serving partner agencies. The Infant Mental Health Specialist shall be responsible to the Supervisor of Services for Children and Families, or other supervisory staff as designated by the Chief Executive Officer.
