Co-Occurring Peer Recovery Specialist
EDUCATION:
High School Graduate or GED
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist and Certified Peer Support Specialist or be willing to participate in an intensive training to become certified.
EXPERIENCE:
Have a co-occurring disorder(s) and have received treatment from a public or private provider. Have personal experience in navigating complex treatment services.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
SHW is excited to offer a Co-Occurring Peer Recovery Specialist Position! The person that may be the best fit for this position will have personal experiences with both mental illness and substance use disorders and established a period of recovery of at least 2 years.
The Peer Recovery Specialist provides services that support, mentor, and assist Individuals served to achieve community inclusion, participation, independence, recovery, resiliency and/or productivity. Peers are individuals who have a unique background and skill level from their experience in using services and supports to achieve their personal goals of community membership, independence, and productivity. Peers have a special ability to gain trust and respect of other individuals served based on shared experience and perspectives with symptoms related to diagnoses and with planning and negotiating human services systems. This position is directly responsible to the Supervisor of Adult MI Services or other supervisory staff as designated by the Chief Executive Officer.
RANGE OF PAY:
