Assessment Therapist
EDUCATION:
Master’s degree in social work, clinical psychology, or counseling from an accredited university Successful completion of course work which includes concentration in areas specifically related to assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of children, families and adults with a clinical focus on mental health and systems theory, utilizing DSM V criteria.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
Current requisite professional certification or licensure, specifically LMSW, LLMSW, LLP or LPC Credentials to provide substance use and integrated dual diagnosis treatment are preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of two years clinical experience, including experience conducting psychosocial mental health assessments, interventions and treatment, as evidenced by self-report and corroborated by references. Clinical background should also include experience with crisis intervention, short-term treatment, DSM-IV diagnosing, community networking, knowledge of developmental disabilities, and treatment of emotionally impaired or mentally ill individuals. At least one-year experience within the Community Mental Health system or in an Outpatient clinic and with managed care and/or third party reimbursement.
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITY:
The Assessment Therapist will provide biopsychosocial assessments for children, families, adults and individuals with Developmental Disabilities, who are seeking services from Shiawassee Health & Wellness. The purpose of the Assessment Therapist is to work within a managed care capacity while responding to requests for services, with the goal being to assess the severity of illness and level of care needed to assure the individual is referred to the medically necessary and appropriate service. The Assessment Therapist works in the Access and Emergency Services Department, may consult with other clinical staff, and gather information from community partners for referrals sources for assessment purposes with appropriate consent. The Assessment Therapist is responsible to the Supervisor of Access and Emergency Services or to other supervisory staff as designed by the Chief Executive Officer. The full-time position occurs during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, has a hybrid option available.
